Miami

Home / Miami - Page 2

Welcome to Miami!

This Spanish speaking city started as a trading post in the early 1900s and has since exploded into a sprawling metropolis filled with ocean adventures!

Visiting Miami is best done via its international airport (MIA).  The city is also accessed from its northern neighbor, Fort Lauderdale (FTL).

Miami and the Ocean

  • Miami sits between two bodies of water: the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay.
  • The Atlantic side provides Miami with what its best known for: beaches! 35 miles of sand and water for you to enjoy!
  • To the south lies Biscayne Bay, the site of the little known Biscayne National Park.
  • Visit Biscayne National Park to experience world class fishing, snorkeling, paddling, and boating while also providing unique hiking and camping opportunities on Elliot Key.
  • The bay serves as a crucial nursery for marine life as they mature before moving out to coral reef sites. This nursery is made possible from freshwater from the Everglades.
  • Just west of Miami and Biscayne National Park is Everglades National Park.
  • This river of grass is best known for its abundance of alligators and wildlife viewing.
