Welcome to the Town of Jupiter! A tropical oasis of natural beauty with a hint of ocean adventure. Fishing, snorkeling, and boating are all common here. But most importantly? Scuba diving!

The diving in Jupiter is incredible with deep coral reefs stretching for miles and boisterous shipwrecks emerging from the sandy bottom. The dive sites are often packed full of marine life like sharks, rays, sea turtles, and goliath grouper.

Strong currents offshoot from the nearby Gulf Stream to send divers on a wild ride. Nearly every dive in Jupiter is a drift dive – there’s simply no other way to go about it. So buckle up, you’re in for some of the best drift diving in South Florida!

10 Best Dive Sites in Jupiter, Florida

The majority of dive sites in Jupiter, FL are deep water (70+ feet; 21 meters) coral reef ledges. Additionally, the waters feature a small handful of interesting shipwrecks.

1. Area 51

Depth: 65 – 75′ to the reef; 90′ to the sand

Good for: epic marine life viewing – loggerhead sea turtles, southern stingrays, reef sharks, and Goliath Grouper.


Area 51 is perhaps the most popular dive site in Jupiter with daily trips by the local dive shops.



2. Loggerhead

Depth: 65′ to the reef; 70′ to the sand

Good for: well, as the name would suggest, loggerhead sea turtles! (oh, and hawksbill sea turtles too)


This shallow water reef (60′), by Jupiter standards, is a popular visit on the second dive of the day.

It’s short, so manage your time underwater accordingly, but dive operators report playful hawksbill sea turtles inhabiting the reef.

3. MG-111

Depth: 65′

Good for: Goliath Grouper aggregations


MG-111 is an old Mississippi River Barge that was sunk decades ago.

The wreck itself isn’t much more than a box with some good coral growth on it. But the attraction here is in August and September when Goliath Grouper aggregates by the 100s to this dive site.

4. Spadefish Point

Depth: 65′ – 75′

Good for: spearfishing hogfish, black grouper; reef fish sightings


A continuation of Area 51, Spadefish Point is equally as vibrant.

Stop near the arch and keep your eyes peeled for every reef fish imaginable. How many different species can you count on your next dive?



5. Tunnels

Depth: 65′ – 70′

Good for: Caribbean reef sharks and natural swim-throughs; hence, “tunnels”.


From the get-go, you’ll realize why the locals continually request this dive site.

Be ready to be greeted by Black Tip and Caribbean Reef Sharks after dropping near Tunnel #1.

Swift along the ledge and discover a Goliath cave with an annual resident. End the dive at the donut hole surrounded by reef sharks, sleepy turtles, and nestled nurse sharks.

6. Captain Kirle’s

Depth: 65 – 75′

Good for: lobster and lionfish hunting;


A high relief ledge with plenty of cul-de-sacs, holes, and blow-out sections.

Drifting along this reef will always reveal something special. Not to mention, the lionfish and lobster hunting opportunities!



7. Scarface

Depth: 65 – 75′

Good for: Spotting green moray eels!


Scarface is aptly named for a resident green moray eel with a legendary scar across his face.

If you’re lucky you might just spot him!



8. Jupiter Wreck Trek (Zion, Miss Jenny, Esso Bonnaire)

Depth: 90′

Good for: Spotted Eagle Ray, Lemon Sharks, and Goliath Grouper.


Possibly the coolest drift dive in South Florida, the Jupiter Wreck Trek consists of three ships: Zion, Miss Jenny, and Esso Bonnaire. The crown jewel of the bunch is the Bonnaire.

Between August and September, along with MG-111, the site serves as the mating grounds for hundreds of Goliath Grouper.

9. Julie’s

Depth: 60 – 70′

Good for: lobster and lionfish hunting


For those seeking a hunting trip, you might end up at Julie’s. The large “patch” reef has multiple low relief ledges providing an immense amount of habitat for crustaceans.

Julie’s is unique for the area and a site divers always enjoy on the second dive of the day!

10. Blue Heron Bridge

Depth: 15 – 25′

Good for: biodiversity and marine life!


I get it. Blue Heron Bridge isn’t technically in Jupiter – but it’s damn near close and that’s good enough for us.

If you’re visiting Jupiter for scuba diving, you might as well head 10 miles south to Riviera Beach to enjoy one of the best shore diving sites in the United States.
